We apply a high level of accessibility to images that are displayed on a web site by adding full text descriptions of the image that is being shown. It is by law that we must implement a level of accessibility to those with disabilities who may not be able to physically see images on a web page. These people will often use a technology called screen reading which will audibly read out a web site’s contents to the user. When a screen reader runs into an image on a web page it relies on the images text description to explain to the user what is being displayed, if there is no description applied to an image you are giving the user an unfair disadvantage which could result in a complaint being made about your company and in some cases, court action.
