A brief introduction to Flash:

Flash - previously known as Shockwave Flash and Macromedia Flash but now better known as Adobe Flash - is a set of multimedia technologies developed and distributed by Adobe Systems and earlier by Macromedia. Since its introduction in 1996, Flash technology has become a popular method for adding animation and interactivity into web sites; Flash is most commonly used to create animation, advertisements, and web site components and also to integrate video into a web site. Flash can manipulate vector and raster graphics and supports bi-directional streaming of audio and video. It is available in most web browsers and also some mobile phones and other electronic devices. Several software products, systems and devices are able to create or display Flash, including the Adobe Flash Player.

What can we do for you?

We think that flash is a great technology that can really enhance the appearance of your web site. However it can create issues and concerns with regards to site accessibility. We do not participate in the creation of web sites made completely with flash as they are both difficult to market and achieve search engine rankings for; also, full flash sites are not very accessible to those with disabilities. We can however create full flash web sites in conjunction with a regular HTML web site. This provides the visitor with the option to either view your normal web site or go on to view your enhanced, flash based web site; this way the level of accessibility is maintained for those with disabilities and the enhanced multimedia can be enjoyed by others!

We can also develop small animations that display within a web page such as banners, introductions and image galleries, to which we can apply an acceptable level of accessibility and interoperability.
